Review of The Last Unicorn (1982) by Thomas R — 20 Sep 2014
First off I suspect that some of the younger critics may be put off by this little gem of a movie. It has none of the high end 3D graphics like "Shrek" and "How to Train your Dragon" which has the younger generation spoiled thus ruining their taste for anything that is not loud and full of flash and glitter.
The Last Unicorn is a fragile bubble that manages to stay aloft despite its obvious old style approach. Instead of relying on a billion dollar budget and stacks of computers to make the movie work the producers had to rely on story, talent and imagination .
I believe they accomplished of this quite well. I found the Last Unicorn to have a old world flavor and charm to it that has gone missing for some time now, it was quite refreshing in its presentation and well worth watching.
