Review of The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) by Ac _ — 20 Mar 2008
Great film both entertaining and enlightening. If your religious and insecure about your beliefs and are easily offended don't watch it! For the rest of you I think you will like it. It explores the different stories that were going around at the short period after Jesus' alleged death.
It is interesting as while religious leaders and later on Roman scholars were happy to allows conflicting stories and accounts of Jesus to be deemed appropriate, there is a clear censoring of all accounts which try and depict Jesus as an ordinary Man with human temptations; instead of simply idolising him.
This film is an attempt to awaken this knowledge and try and explore its relevance today. This is done well by Willem Dafoe and Harvey Keitel although it is strange first seeing Bowie as Pilot and Judas with a good New Yorker accent.
Good director, good cast and brilliant concept, must see.
