Review of The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) by Ken B — 24 Jul 2008
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I am, once again, underwhelmed by a Scorsese film. There are certainly some bold choices here, but the movie itself is rather bland. The pacing isn't quite right and some of the casting decisions, most notably Keitel, are a little strange.
I was impressed by Dafoe's performance though. I guess I just understand what the big deal is here. Other than the really interesting turn of events while Christ was on the cross, there wasn't much here that piqued my interest.
It wasn't a bad movie, but just a relatively dull one.
