The fact: Film is based on novel by greek author Nikos Kazantzakis and NOT on gospels.. That was enough reason to watch this Scorsese's masterpiece 'because I'm not religious but not atheist too.
. I quote Rogert Ebert's part of review: "Among those who do not already have rigid views on the subject, this film is likely to inspire more serious thought on the nature of Jesus than any other ever made.
