Review of The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) by Sivalingam L — 09 Jul 2012
I think the core idea is to make every body understand what is the difference between a common man and a Prophet. Martin Scorsese makes an extraordinarily impacting film out of it. However, Separated by 2000 years of the ever glorified human stupidity, both Christ and Scorsese have the same problem to face.
As a Common public we always assume that we are innocent and our beliefs and actions are harmless. Both Christ and Scorsese got into trouble for questioning this. Christ got into trouble, by challenging the stoning of Mary Magdalene and questioning the then popular Jewish temple rules and Scorsese gets into trouble by making a bold, truthful film out of it.
But the only difference Christ was publicly executed but Scorsese survives. This I think is a proof that our living conditions have improved at least in some parts of the world in 2000 years.
