I can't pretend that The Last Temptation of Christ is my favorite Scorsese film. It is unquestionably well acted, impeccably directed and expertly scripted. And it's certainly interesting.
I just don't love it. Perhaps it makes assumptions about faith I cannot connect with. I don't really know. In the end I suppose The Last Temptation of Christ is a finely crafted piece art with a subject that I just no longer have any interest in. Anyway, still a fine film.
