Review of The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) by C.w. S — 09 Nov 2013

Finally got around to watching The Last Temptation of Christ. I've heard about this all my life, how controversial it was in 88. Watching it now on NetFlix, and I don't understand what's controversial about it. It's very good and doesn't challenge the material so much as it incorporates some of the Gnostic interpretations (where the guy isn't going around cursing fig trees--what a prick).

Of course I haven't finished it yet... gay socialist leprechauns could still erupt from Defoe-Jesus' asshole and impose gun control laws. But I'm pretty sure dude's going to be strung up on a cross. I'm calling it: they're going to crucify this poor hippie. I'm good at predicting these things.
