Review of The Last Survivors (2014) by Mindy L — 16 Oct 2016
I watched it and couldn't believe this has only 2 stars on Netflix. So many post-apocalyptic movies are unrealistic. Typically, you've got this lead character who charges into battle and wipes out his/her enemies with almost super human skill.
There is none of that in this movie, which might explain why it's not as highly rated as I think it should be. This heroine is so much more... real. Her sense of fear is tangible. She is cautious, never charging stupidly into combat.
She has limits, and she knows it. She knows that one wrong move could be her last. Even when people are being killed in front of her, she remains hidden, knowing that she can't save them. She really couldn't even be called a heroine.
She is more of a survivor. She is fighting for her life, and is very human, very relatable in that regard. There are no moments of heroics, except at the very end, in a moment of desperation to save the last person left that she cares about.
I loved it. I highly recommend it.
