Review of The Last Station (2009) by Robert D. P — 07 Feb 2010
Michael Hoffman makes few films, but he is meticulous and thorough in his work and the result are superlative films. He is best known for Restoration (1995) and Soapdish (1991), but in The Last Station, he outdoes himself.
Oscar nominees Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer are excellent as Mr. and Mrs. Tolstoy, and Kerry Condon is radiant as the love interest of Tolstoy aide James McAvoy. This film will not generate numbers like Avatar, but it will move you more.
