Review of The Last Station (2009) by Deidre M — 15 Mar 2010
Helen Mirren steals the limelight with every scene she's in. If she would have beat out Bullock for the Oscar, I would have been sorrowful for Bullock, but it would have been well deserved. Plummer also delivers a fantastic, recognized as Oscar worthy performance.
Without these two, I must say the plot would have made the movie less than satisfactory. Whether it was intentioned as such or not, this film is a treatise against intellectualism, but it is also a staunch supporter of love blooming in adversity (like everything else now a days it seems).
