A fantastic look into the last days of Leo Tolstoy showing a young love blossoming and an old marriage still in the thralls of love. Plummer is absolutely brilliant as Tolstoy breathes such life and charm into the character while Mirren is lovely and passionate as his wife.

More than just about love, this movie also speaks to political movements and how they can not only damage the relationships of those involved, but also that the movements true purpose can so easily be lossed by idolizing the movement itself.

There are so many tender, loving, and even funny moments to be experienced in this film, most of which is accompanined by a wonderful score that complements the action that takes place.
