Review of The Last Station (2009) by Dave L — 30 Nov 2010
Full of british heavy weight actors The Last Station is a fantastic and ultimately moving film about the last year of Tolstoy's life. Helen Mirren is enthralling as Tolstoy's wife and has some emotional scenes which she carries off to perfection. The script is balanced and emotive to the story and really helps to make this film inspiring to watch.
Some people may become slightly pedantic over the fact that everyone is speaking with a British accent, even James McAvoy. To let that spoil this film for you would be a crime, and a British accent is better than a bad Russian one.
