Review of The Last Station (2009) by Jenna G — 06 Jun 2011
I really put off watching this as long as I could because I thought that it'd be boring & I wouldn't like it. Well, I forgot to check my netflix queue and was pretty disappointed when it came in the mail the next day.
But I watched it .. and found myself pleasantly surprised. I mean, I know it's Helen Mirren with a great cast, but still.... it looked super boring. I really enjoyed it, Plummer was freakin' awesome & of course Dame Helen giving one of her usual brilliant performances; no shock there.
I didn't like that it was a story about a RUSSIAN novelist in RUSSIA with other RUSSIANS involved ... and it was in English. I mean, I know that the chances of me watching a movie about a Russian novelist in Russia with other Russians involved & not in English would be kinda slim.
But still. Same thing with Valkryie with Tom Cruise. But anyways. Did I cry when Leo Tolstoy died? Maybe a little, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Also, I loved the gag reel!
