Review of The Last Starfighter (1984) by Jonathan W — 04 Dec 2007
I love this movie. The special effects were really superior in its day, but it's the acting and the story that make this a great 80's space movie. The humor is just right, the plot keeps you interested throughout, and Lance Guest does a fine job as the kid who didn't want to save the galaxy.
Robert Preston is also especially good as the intergalactic con man. This film is just BEGGING for a remake (and I mean that in the nicest way possible).
