I really enjoyed this movie when I was a kid and recently watched it again on HBO. While the special effects and latex aliens looked, well... 'cheesy'... by todays standards, I still found the movie to be enjoyable to watch.
It was just a fun movie. I can imagine all the kids who must've rushed to the arcades after seeing this movie, so that they too, could train to be the 'last starfighter'. I was one of them.
Maybe not a deep, thought provoking movie, but fun and entertaining, none the less.
