Classic 80's - one of my favorite childhood movies. Playing a video game gets you recruited into the Star League where you defend earth and numerous other galaxies. You defeat them all with one ship then return to earth to take you're girl back to space with you.
..freaking sweet. Yes, as a 5 year old kid I dreamed of being the Last Starfighter, ha ha.
