Review of The Last Starfighter (1984) by Garrett J — 23 Jun 2009
This movie is another fun one that never lets me down. An 80's sci-fi cult classic, ahead of it's time in the special effects dept., and an overall feel-good story about a high school senior from a clean trailer park, whose skill at arcade games allows him the chance to save the universe.
This is one of those movies that if it's on, I pretty much HAVE to watch it. I recall one lazy day as I watched Starz and Encore, this one came on and then it was on again on the next Starz channel and then it cycled on to Encore and a few of it's alternate channels. Well I wound up watching this movie for about 5 hours.
All I'm sayin' is this. If you were a kid in the 80's in my neck of the woods, and you were having a b-day party, it was almost CRIMINAL to NOT have this movie on hand for the kids viewing pleasure.
Great movie!!!
