Review of The Last Starfighter (1984) by Francisca M — 01 Jan 2010
"What do we do?" "We die." A loveable space movie from the 80s. One of the first to use computer generated animation and effects, which weren't too bad for the 80s. I love the simple story however it does lack that universe created by other space movies.
Yet it sells it well. There's nothing much to think about and my favorite parts were the ending (lingered from my childhood) and the Death Blossom because that paid homage to the video games of the time.
Lance Guest was adorable as Alex. The ridiculous set up, funny effects, aliens, and hilarious lines, "I love you Alex", made the movie a memorable one from the 80s.
