Star Trek: light version. This film borrows so much from Star Trek, and seems to have had a great influence (particularly with alien design) on Star Trek television series in the 80s and 90s. Star Wars' influence on this film is perhaps even more readily apparent to most.
Unfortunately, the exciting and suspenseful moments lose momentum, and come across as emotionally flat and contrived. Some things are a bit corny too, and the main character's acting leaves something to be desired. Cool theme song and nice special effects for the time.
