Review of The Last Stand (2013) by Brian C — 02 Jul 2013
Arnie returns for the first time (in a lead role) since Terminator 3 in a silly, cliche action film that does nicely show Arnie's ageing years. It's not Arnie's best film (could he possibly top Predator?) but it was nice to see him back on the screen, even if the body is now rather round, compared to what we expect from Schwarzenegger. He is now unlikely to play role requiring his shirt off (unlike Stallone) as the years as the Governator did not allow him the time to work out.
The action is silly, the plot completely bonkers, but hey, it's an 80s style action film.
The cast is overall fine, but what has happened to Forest Whitaker? He seems to be coasting since he won an Oscar. Disappointing...
