Review of The Last Seduction (1994) by Manny C — 05 Aug 2008
One of my all time classic movies. Linda Fiorentino's femme fatale is in a class of her own in this dark, funny, film noir thriller. John Dahl directs a superb cast in this low budget joy!...I never tire of this film because it's what film making should be about...there's no special effects, no ridiculously, over laboured car chases,...only odd ball misfit characters that you cannot but help to warm to.
The picture though belongs entirely to Linda Fiorentino - this movie propelled her to debatedly better roles in terms of their profile but she's never come close to matching the performance she gives in this film. She is both the heroine and the villain and boy,...doesn't she relish it!! Her character Bridget Gregory has to be one of the most manipulative, scheming, scarily intelligent (my god - the woman can write backwards!) but at the same time hilarious incarnations that you'll see on film for a very long time.
This is a picture for those that love well made, simple, intriguing and intelligent pictures,...and for me it says a lot about the cast that committed to being in this film when you consider that they all did this film for scale union pay!...John Dahl and co.,...you rock!...
