Tom Cruise plays hardcore role as a hardcore warrior and Edward Zwick gets the job done with very artistic work. In reality, the conflict was between the Samurai and the French Army but as GREAT as it gets, its superbly-written between the Samurai and the British though it would of been perfectly written if the characters weren't that mediocre but the performances are strongly impressive.
The Last Samurai is by far, one of Tom Cruise's best.
