I'll agree the ending has a bit of the generic theatrics common in dozens of films that came before it, but given the rest of the films sword swinging, grandiose and majestic spectacle, last samurai has everything an epic should.
Ken Watanabe is terrific as well. I can't help but hold my breath and widen my eyes with every viewing.
