Review of The Last Samurai (2003) by Henry T — 01 Dec 2011
This is a surprisingly thoughtful film about the way we choose to live our lives, and it is a lovingly crafted and thrilling portrait of the last days of the samurai. Its heavy handedness can be forgiven when one can see how much effort Zwick and the actors (particularly Watanabe and Cruise) put into the film.
I greatly enjoyed it. And Hans Zimmer's score is an underrated gem.
