In 154 minutes Edward Zwick was able to show action, drama, and a glimpse into a culture so completely different from our own that we can hardly understand it. It is a story so amazing. It shows how loyal and brave were the Samurai that they would do anything their leader would ask of them, but would also fight against them in order to help them.

It showed how different they were from us. How you could kill a man, but his family would not be angered because he died with honor and it was a "good death". How a small band of great warriors would, without fear, charge against a force ten times their sizes, because they knew it was for a greater good.

How a man who had know only self hate and violence could grow to love and fight for his enemy. It is an amazing film. Some people choose to pick their favorite movie based on how funny it was, or how many explosions there were, or how much the main characters loved each other.

Not me. I choose this movie because it moved me and it showed me just how much a simple thing like a movie can effect a person, and it inspired me to at least try and do the same.
