Review of The Last Samurai (2003) by Eric M — 21 Oct 2012
A historical epic with heart and depth. Portrays magnificently the clash between the Old World and the New, not only in Japan, but with implications for society as a whole. A somber warning of the dangers of throwing away the ways of old in favor of "new" power, as well as a touching story of a man finding a "small measure of peace" despite a tortured past by submitting himself to The Way.
