Review of The Last Picture Show (1971) by Simon C — 14 Aug 2007
Saw this at the Wellington Film Festival. Amazing. Possibly one of the greatest films I've ever seen. Set in a beautifully desolate Texas town, this is a teenage coming of age film that is 100% real and authentic - real emotions, real, believable characters.
Early in the film a teacher quotes from Keats 'beauty is truth, and truth beauty'. This film is both true and beautiful.
