Review of The Last Picture Show (1971) by Brady O — 10 Feb 2008
I guess I'm one of the few people who wasn't impressed by this "coming of age" teen angst movie. I think it was filled with sleazy characters who cared little about anyone but themselves, and acted without much regard for other people's feelings.
Reputations and sexual exploration are themes that are poured by the bucket, and I didn't see hardly any genuine emotion to sympathize with. I'm sure this movie was praised for breaking taboos and giving us a gritty view on life, but I would rather see 'The Graduate" which is far superior in my opinion.
