Review of The Last Picture Show (1971) by Codie E — 01 May 2009
A very depressing and quietly moving film, but one that I could watch time and time again. Peter Bogdanovich and his team have managed to perfectly match cinematography, design and mood with material, nothing is over the top and nothing is out of place.
And then there is the cast; a text book use of supporting characters and casting actors who know how to have a huge impact with little screen time (Ben Johnson, Cloris Leachman, Eileen Brennan).
