Review of The Last Picture Show (1971) by Sabra E — 01 Jun 2009
The close-up silence of thoughtful expressions, the natural and dramatic winds and dust in a small Texas town almost forgotten, the awkward nude swim party scene, Randy Quaid as a dumb choad, the ambitious debutante, the golden-hearted hero repeatedly bludgeoned with tragedy, the hot-headed and young Jeff Bridges: all of these things and more make the Last Picture Show one of the best American movies ever made.
