A very good study of small-nearly-ghost-town life as seen by the teenagers stuck there. And when I say teenagers, try Timothy Bottoms, Cybil Shepherd and Jeff freakin' Bridges. Mind you this is 1971, and Bogdanovich was called a genius.
This movie is very very well done, filmed in black and white which captures how gritty this little town is. All the actors are fine, especially Bottoms who watches friend by friend leave one by one, and wonders if he can do the same thing.
It may start out somewhat slow, but it picks up, and you'll be glad in the end you've watched it.
