This movie is bold, honest, and true to life. The cast was just about perfect, and what damn fine acting everyone did. I also love that it is in black and white. The film was adapted from a semi-autobiographical novel, and I just looked up Larry McMurtry (who wrote the novel and co-wrote the screenplay) and just found out he also co-wrote the screenplay for Brokeback Mountain, hah, learn something new every day.
Anyways, seems that with the team of Larry McMurty and Peter Bogdanovich that made for a stellar movie.
