Review of The Last Picture Show (1971) by Ben W — 10 Oct 2010
One of the most lonely american movies ever made. bogdanovich captured the spirit of mcmurtrys story with minimal effort. its about the people that this small texas town consumes. having lived in texas all my life, I know these towns, these people, and their struggles fairly intimately.
there are some excellent performances but I dont know that any of them can touch cloris leachmans. its the film for a particular time and place. and thats no small thing.
