I wasnt allowed to watch rated R movies as a kid nor do I watch them now but my parents let me watch this when I was a teenager and skipped the bloody violent parts. I watched it a few years ago as an adult and loved it! I still do not enjoy the harrowing violent parts and still skip most of them but do realize it was set during a war.
The acting was wonderful and the music is my favorite (own the soundtrack!) Like another reviewer mentioned... I thought it was a perfect blend of history, adventure and romance.
