I didn't expect to like this movie. I hated the title and avoided it in the theater. It was just out of sheer desperation when I went to the video store one night that I even rented it at all. And I'm glad I did.
This was a very smart and engaging children's fantasy movie. The story was intelligent and never talked down to the audience and the performances were all very good.
