The main problem with The Last Mimzy is that it lacks a climax. All you mainly see is a bunch of stones levitating. If you have a lot of patience and you are willing to put up with a lot to get a good sci-fi part, still don't see the film because its not worth it.
The payoff was just too unsatisfying.
