Review of The Last Mimzy (2007) by Cooper D — 21 Sep 2011
This was a lot of hit and miss. Honestly, the whole film I thought it was pretty entertaining, a nice family film with two fun kid leads. But the real problem the film has is that the story really doesn't go anywhere.
It has a lot of potential and a lot of build up, but we never really learn anything about what the objects do or what those "aliens" are really doing. It had good performances and good production, but the screenplay seemed unfininshed.
It had so much build up with no real resolution, or rather, imagine an entire feature length first act (and even second act) with about a 2 minute 3rd act. I'm assuming kids will like it, but I just wished there was more.
Oh well, it was okay for what it was, especially since I didn't know a thing about it before I saw it.
