Review of The Last Lear (2008) by Ramesh . — 15 Nov 2008
What a brilliantly acted and beautifully written film. The acting is top notch and the plot is wonderfully complex. The Last Lear takes the simple premises of an aging theater actor and a young director making their masterpiece and develops a great character study. I absolutely love how they weaved in Shakespearean dialogue.
I have always been a huge fan of director Rituparno Ghosh, but I rarely get a chance to watch most of his films because of how hard they are to find. Also the fact that most of them are in Bengali without any English subtitles does not help.
