Review of The Last King of Scotland (2006) by Marie-Astrid Anne-Charlotte D — 09 Jul 2009
Playing as the powerful, mad dictator Idi Amin, this is the movie that won Forest Whitaker the Academy Awards' Best Actor in 2006. Although captured by Whitaker's portrayal of the dictator, I also sympathized with the fictional character of dr Garrigan that James McAvoy portrayes.
He was naive and young, but was suddenly trapped in a dangerous position. Both of Whitaker's and McAvoy's actings are definitely the main highlight of the movie. However, I think the movie is still not as powerful as the movie Hotel Rwanda.
