Review of The Last King of Scotland (2006) by Jordan P — 31 Jul 2009
Two powerful central performances and some great writing make this a must-see, and I don't say that lightly. As good as McAvoy was in the lead, the film suffered--but only a bit--whenever Whitaker wasn't onscreen, and unfortunately there were some seemingly long stretches in the second half in which he was absent.
But other than that, this is one of the most powerful studies of a mass-murderer since Der Untergang showed us Hitler up close.
