Review of The Last King of Scotland (2006) by Andy S — 18 Oct 2009
Forest Whitaker's performance was first rate, but that was certainly no surprise. Overall the film was well shot, moody, edgy and presented a real feel of the time and political climate of Amin's leadership.
Graphic in parts, this was a good portrayal of Amin but I felt that McAvoy's performance was lacking. Not that there was anything particularly wrong with it, but it left me cold and disinterested. The same can be said for the film as a whole to be honest.
Worth a watch but I can't say I was bothered either way...
