Review of The Last King of Scotland (2006) by Jacob F — 16 Apr 2011
This is one of the best of 2006. I found it to be an insightful and disturbing fictional take on the story of one of the most brutal dictators. Also, it is powered by an astonishing performance by Forest Whitaker who deservingly won the Oscar.
This is because he portrays Idi Amin not just as a frightening dictator but also a sympathetic human being. He was charming, funny, intimidating, and very real.
