Review of The Last King of Scotland (2006) by Elliott F — 10 Jul 2012
Kevin MacDonald occasionally over-directs this political thriller. It's totally buoyed by Forest Whitaker's powerhouse performance as Idi Amin, which won him a Best Actor Oscar, as well as many other awards, but the rest of the film is fine.
It's a brutal film, with moments of horrifying gruesomeness, but it's definitely a fairly well-written, well-acted film.
