Review of The Last House on the Left (2009) by Ad V — 01 Sep 2012
I'm not a fan of the original so the idea of a remake didn't bother me and much like Black Christmas I was able to enjoy the "reimaginings" moreso. Not to say it's a great film but it makes for a thrilling revenge pic.
I take issue with the uncomfortably prolonged rape scene (the unrated version), a bone-headed move by the parents late in the game that had me yelling at the screen and a rather silly epilogue that doesn't gel with the rest of the film but doesnt ruin it for me either.
Bottom line is if you weren't a fan of Craven's unlikeable sleazefest or havent seen it at all then it's worth a rental.
Oh and one final thought: Dillahunt as Krug is okay but David Hess he ain't.
