Review of The Last House on the Left (2009) by Arlene G — 02 Sep 2012
The original is better, as with most cult-movie remakes, but it isn't horrible. I found the acting better than in most cult movie remakes, Spencer Treat Clark was the best. It's more of a thriller than a horror film.
I really felt something like something was missing style-wise and the movie needed more direction; it could've done more. I like the original better, because it impacted the film community as it was completely depraved of any moral fiber and did things no movie had dared to do before. This remake has disturbing points, but they're mostly borrowed from the original. Overall, The Last House on the Left has weaknesses; it's okay, not great and doesn't come close to the original.
