Review of The Last House on the Left (2009) by Eileen V — 15 Dec 2012
This movie is adorable in comparison to the original film. How a movie from 1972 can still be more shocking than a version made in 2009 is beyond me. It's almost as if the Hallmark channel remade this themselves.
I understand that remakes are going to have a few changes, but whoever rewrote this took the 'horror' out of the horror movie. The killers in this movie suck compared to the original, because unlike the new killers, the originals actually pulled of the psycho killer bit.
Also, the majority of the violence has been changed and all the re-tooled killings are disappointments in comparions to the original. I can't really go into too much more detail without giving away parts of the story.
In closing, I want to acknowledge that the writers of this film did an excellent job of butchering the original script and changing the ending to a more precious experience. If you like happy endings, watch this, but if you want a real horror film, check out the original.
