Definitely not what the original was. It lacks the suspense, shock, and real-life feel of the 1972 version. I will say that the rape scene was considerably more disturbing and the ending was quite satisfying and impressive special effects-wise.
However, the middle to the end drags on a bit. Overall, it's not horrible, but not great either.
