Review of The Last House on the Left (2009) by Paul R — 07 Jul 2012
You all know my feelings regarding remakes - but here's one that did a decent job of it. The Last House on the left is a rather grim story of a girl who unfortunately happens upon the worst bunch of depraved individuals whilst on holiday with her parents.
She manages to escape after she is brutally raped only to be shot from a distance and left for dead. The criminal family happen upon the girls parents home and ask to take shelter and as the story unfolds within the house here begins some fantastic sequences of revenge as the father takes the law into his own hands.
It's dark, grim, and a far more serious film than the original which is almost silly in parts. There's some great characters who play out this very interesting story. Be warned - this film is not for the faint hearted and contains some rather graphic violence.
One thing is for sure, you'll be on the edge of your seat throughout. If you like Horror, you'll love this.
