This cult classic was one of the many movies from The Video Nasty era. Not only was it notorius for it duels with censorship but it was also the movie that began the careers of Wes Craven who we all know was responsible for "A Nightmare On Elm Street", & for launching the career of Sean S.Cunnigham who later on went to create the first instalement of the "Friday The 13th" series.

"Last House On The Left" is the story of two teenage girls who go to spend a night in the city to see a famous rock group. On their way they attempt to pick up some weed which is were they cross paths with four escaped convicts who kidinapp, torture and rape the two teens. As they escape from the city their car brakes down outside the home of a local doctor who also happens to be the father of one of the teenage girls. Needless to say revenge is served in the best way possible.

Now, not all the performances are that great but for a debut movie this is brilliant. Many of the shots are extremley well done and the story is fantastic. Along with it's serious mood this movie has it's attempts at being commical in a couple of brief scenes, but don't let this put you off.

It's good to see that this movie is finally available in the U.K. completley uncut (It took long enough!) and this is the best way to view the movie. And I'm sure that fans of this grindhouse masterpiece are just as thankfull. So if you like your classic horror, cult movies or a fan of Wes Craven then go out and get this movie.
