Review of The Last House on the Left (1972) by Wayne Z — 11 Jan 2009
I can't imagine what audiences must have made of this one when it was first released. Dodgy acting, laughable script, amateurish camerawork, editing and continuity (and this is just within the first 5 minutes!) lead you into a false sense of security.
When one of the main females gets punched hard in the stomach it seems VERY out of place with everything that has gone before it. Then later when she is made to piss her pants before getting a knife in her stomach and her intestines pulled out, it really does tip things over the edge.
The biggest negative about this film is the total unbelievability of the story. Its biggest positive is the 3 main leads (who play the psychotic convicts) are so fucking believable.
